Atjoni is a village in Suriname located to the south of the van Blommenstein meer. This spot is a tourism gateway to all the popular destinations in the south of the Suriname river.  Atjoni is a 4 hour drive ends and tourism need to take a boat trip to their final destination which may tale form 2 to 8 hours depending on your destination in Suriname. Originally the connecting city for locals when they visit the city for business Atjoni has now grown into a city that cannot be skipped when visiting the region in the south of Suriname.

A drive to the village will take you from Paramaribo to Paranam on city paved roads form where on a bauxiet roads take over for a 4 hours drive leading over the main road and the brownsweg to Atjoni. Depending on the weather and road condition this trip could take 8 hours or more. Currently the government of Suriname has initiated a project to pave the roads to Atjoni which should be finished before the 2010 elections in Suriname.
