Getting Around

A rental car is your best bet for exploring Suriname. Most of the land is accessible by excellent paved roads. But once you get into the southern hills, the roads become unmarked goat tracks. Don't take your rental car off the paved roads.

All the major companies have offices in suriname. Costs are usually a bit lower than in the U.S., but book in advance.Suriname traffic laws apply, and you must hold a drivers license. Be aware that that we drive on the left side of the road abd during rush hour, you will encounter traffic jams. Also, some drivers of the ubiquitous small pickup trucks tend to forget what lane they are supposed to be in and drift a bit--stay alert.
