Albina is a border city in the east of Suriname besides the Marowijne river. Albina a river viewThis City which used to be a favorite vacation portal in Suriname deteriorated during the civil war in Suriname. Albina is slowly picking up it's place again in Suriname. This city is also a gateway to French Guiana and The Turtle Nesting ground in Suriname Galibi. It has a population of about 10000 people. Albina got it's name from a famous wood contractor who established a settlement and named it after its wife Alwina. Albina is now like atjoni growing to be a tourism gateway to the east and south east of Suriname. Currently Blue wings airlines has established a air flight connection to this city which will soon grow to a Gateway to Tourism in Suriname east and south east.

 Albina can be reach by a very bumpy 3 hours drive to the city. Roads have been destroyed during the civil war in Suriname, but is being renovated within 2009. When visiting Albina travelers and tourist may want to use caution for this section of Suriname.
